Pechanga Band negotiates agreement to address casino impacts

Thursday, August 5, 2010

The Pechanga Band of LuiseƱo Indians in California continues to negotiate an agreement to address the impacts of its casino.

The tribe already reached an agreement with the city of Temecula. An agreement with Riverside County is still in the works.

"The county component has yet to be completed and is still in negotiation, thus the agreement with the city has not yet been finalized," Chairman Mark Macarro said in a statement to The Riverside Press-Enterprise.

The deal with Temecula requires the tribe to pay $2 million a year to the city for five years, with subsequent payments to be adjusted for inflation. The first year's payment is on hold pending an agreement with the county.
